Yashoda Medicity Introduces India’s First MR Linac with Comprehensive Motion Management for Advanced Cancer Care
Written by Sirish Dixit
Yashoda Medicity pioneers India’s first MR Linac with CMM, offering real-time adaptive radiotherapy and redefining precision in cancer care.

Yashoda Medicity has become the first healthcare provider in India to install the Elekta Unity MR Linac system integrated with Comprehensive Motion Management (CMM), marking a major advancement in cancer treatment. This innovative system merges a high-resolution 1.5T MRI with a Linear Accelerator (LINAC), enabling real-time imaging and adaptive radiotherapy tailored to daily anatomical changes.
Led by Dr. PN Arora and Dr. Upasana Arora, this initiative positions Yashoda Medicity at the forefront of personalized cancer therapy. The Elekta Unity system offers superior soft-tissue visualization compared to traditional CBCT, allowing doctors to target tumors with sub-millimetric precision while minimizing harm to healthy tissues.
The technology also supports hypofractionated treatments, reducing the number of sessions by delivering higher radiation doses safely. It is particularly effective for small tumors, lymph nodes, and recurring cases requiring repeated radiation. With remote access capabilities, clinicians can efficiently review and adjust treatment plans from anywhere, enhancing overall workflow.
A step toward Biology-Guided Radiotherapy (BgRT), the system enables treatments to be refined using biological markers such as gene expression.
Dr. Upasana Arora emphasized the institute's dedication to bringing world-class care to India, while Dr. Gagan Saini highlighted the system’s role in reducing complications and improving outcomes. Recognized globally with awards like the Red Dot Design Award, the MR Linac system is set to redefine precision cancer care in India.
