Tata Trusts and the Chhattisgarh Government Collaborate to Improve PHCs in the State
Tata Trusts and the Government of Chhattisgarh successfully implement the Health Systems Strengthening Initiative, improving primary health centers and congenital heart disease management. The program will now be scaled up statewide.
Tata Trusts, in partnership with the Government of Chhattisgarh, announced the successful completion of its Health Systems Strengthening Initiative. The initiative involved the Collectives for Integrated Livelihood Initiatives (CInI) - an associate Organization of Tata Trusts - implementing the Model Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHC) project.
Additionally, it established a process for swiftly referring and managing congenital heart diseases in the state. After disseminating the best practices, the State Government will now scale up the program and replicate the initiative throughout the state.
The initiative achieved several milestones, showcasing the establishment of 23 Model Health Centers as a part of the project. These centers focused on developing patient-centric facilities, including child-friendly model immunization rooms. The initiative also involved the adoption of technology platforms and the enhancement of healthcare workforce capacity.
In line with their commitment to accessible healthcare, the Trusts collaborated with Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani Hospital (SSSH) to assist in the early detection and treatment of children screened for congenital heart disease (CHD).
In a video message, Shri TS Singh Deo, Health Minister of the Government of Chhattisgarh, addressed the cause-
“We are committed to guaranteeing adequate medical care for every resident of our state. Through the assistance of Tata Trusts, we have effectively enhanced 23 Model Health Centres with the purpose of fortifying the health systems in Chhattisgarh. This initiative involves training healthcare personnel and raising awareness about improved practices. Our partnership with Collectives for Integrated Livelihood Initiatives (CInI), an organization by Tata Trusts, is instrumental in realizing our objective of delivering affordable and easily accessible healthcare to our citizens. We are observing encouraging outcomes and are confident that this collaboration will contribute to enhancing the overall well-being of everyone.”
During the dissemination event of 23 Model Health Centers, Dr. Sita Rama Budaraju, Senior Advisor, Health at Tata Trusts, commented-
“At Tata Trusts, we strive to make quality healthcare accessible and affordable, especially for those in underserved communities. Driven by this ethos, we were honoured to work with the Government of Chhattisgarh these past years – introducing to the state, a network of 23 model facilities, digitisation-first approach, and proactive monitoring for quality control – which made the pilot a success. We are proud to have been a part of this journey and hope that this programme will be successful in transforming healthcare in the state by building capabilities of frontline health workers, leveraging technology to enhance service quality, and promoting fair and accessible healthcare for all.”
