Glenmark Pharmaceuticals and OMRON Healthcare India are partnering to promote "Take Charge @18" initiative, aiming to combat hypertension ignorance among young adults in India by raising awareness about blood pressure measurement from age 18.
Glenmark surveyed 94 cardiologists in India, finding that 18 years old is the appropriate age for blood pressure screening. The expert consensus statement was published in the Journal of the Association of Physicians of India in 2020.
Glenmark Pharmaceuticals Limited and OMRON Healthcare India have incorporated an inlay card into every OMRON Blood Pressure monitor sold in India as part of the "Take Charge @18" initiative. The card conveys the significance of blood pressure screening and encourages patients and caregivers to sensitize at least four family members aged 18 or above to monitor their blood pressure regularly.

The "Take Charge @18" initiative aims to reach around 92,000 healthcare professionals (HCPs) and create awareness among ten crore Indians. Glenmark and OMRON's joint efforts underscore their dedication to fostering a healthier society and reducing hypertension-related events.
India's hypertension prevalence has increased, particularly among young adults, with a 35.5% prevalence for those aged 20 and above, compared to 29.8% in 2014.
The "Take Charge @18" initiative has achieved significant milestones, including education for healthcare professionals, youth awareness programs, and hypertension rallies in India. Through digital and media interventions, it emphasizes blood pressure screening and comprehensive hypertension management.
