Sweden’s Meela Secures €2.6 Million to Revolutionize Mental Health Matchmaking
Meela raised €2.6M to advance its research-based matchmaking system for finding the right therapist and therapy method, expanding into B2B solutions to support workplace mental health.

Gothenburg, Sweden-based Meela, a mental health and well-being platform, announced on Monday that it has secured €2.6 million in seed funding. The round was led by new investor Dutch VC Peak, with participation from existing investors The Inner Foundation, Unconventional Ventures, and Calm/Storm.

Founded by Tiffany Boswell, a licensed psychologist, Meela is a research-based matchmaking platform designed to help people find the right psychologist and therapy method.

“Meela needs to exist in the world. I come into this space as a patient myself. I know what it feels like to meet the wrong therapist for you. So for me, it feels important and urgent to make sure we can help as many people as possible,” says Tiffany Boswell, Founder & CEO.

Unlike traditional methods that focus only on accessibility, Meela's platform uses clinical metrics to calculate compatibility between clients and therapists. The tool evaluates 43 metrics, informed by clinical research and their own patient and therapist data, covering psychological needs, symptoms, alliance, attachment style, and personal preferences.

Meela offers over 120 therapy treatments in 22 languages, providing both in-person and digital therapy options. By analyzing therapists’ treatment outcomes, Meela is building an extensive database of clinical competencies and areas for improvement, which fuels the continuous refinement of their matching technique.

From the therapists’ perspective, real-time tracking of clinical data and patient feedback fosters ongoing learning about effective therapeutic methods and data-driven upskilling insights.

Meela plans to introduce a subscription-based model for therapists, giving them access to a patient feedback loop. By leveraging technology and feedback mechanisms, this data-driven approach enhances the quality of care and delivers value to both therapists and patients.

The company is also planning to expand into the B2B market. By offering customized B2B solutions, Meela aims to address the pressing need for mental health support in the workplace.

“Our alignment with Meela was evident in their commitment to revolutionizing mental health support. Their team’s dedication and innovative approach strongly resonated with our focus on women’s well-being and the broader landscape of mental health,” says Nora Bavey, General Partner of Unconventional Venture.
