Surya Eye Hospital launches Oculus Myopia Master to combat rising myopia cases with cutting-edge tools and free screenings for children.

Surya Eye Hospital, a leading eye care provider in India, has introduced Western India’s first Oculus Myopia Master, a cutting-edge diagnostic tool from Germany designed to track and manage myopia progression in children. The launch coincides with National Myopia Week and includes a free Myopia Screening Camp at the hospital’s Bandra and Mulund branches from November 14 to 20, 2024.

The Oculus Myopia Master uses a contactless and painless approach to measure critical eye parameters such as axial length, keratometry, and refraction, enabling precise monitoring and tailored treatment plans. Developed with OCULUS GmbH, Germany, and BHVI, Australia, this innovative tool employs an AI-based model to ensure personalized care for each child.

Dr. Vinod Goyal, Senior Ophthalmologist and Director at Surya Eye Hospital, remarked, “Myopia is a pressing global health issue. Early detection and advanced tools like the Myopia Master can significantly improve outcomes for children, providing them with a clearer and healthier vision.”

A Media Round Table hosted by the hospital brought together industry experts to discuss strategies for combating the myopia epidemic, which will affect nearly 40% of Indian children by 2030.

Dr. Jay Goyal, LASIK and Retina Specialist at Surya Eye Hospital added, Our adoption of the Myopia Master underscores our commitment to reducing children’s dependency on glasses and preventing long-term risks like retinal detachment and glaucoma. With myopia prevalence rising globally, timely care is more critical than ever.”

This initiative highlights Surya Eye Hospital’s dedication to offering advanced diagnostic solutions and fostering awareness about myopia’s growing impact on children.
