In a landmark announcement, SumeetSSG, a joint venture between India’s Sumeet Group Enterprises and Spain’s SSG Matrix, revealed plans to elevate emergency medical services across India. Starting in Maharashtra, the initiative entails an investment of Rs 1600 crore to implement the ‘Maharashtra Emergency Medical Services’ (MEMS) 108 Ambulance Project.

The upgraded fleet features cutting-edge technologies and specialized medical equipment, designed to maximize efficiency during the critical “golden hour” in emergencies. Equipped with Mobile Data Terminals, GPS tracking, RFID, CCTV, and TRIAGE systems, these ambulances offer essential advancements for rapid response. Additional integrations include CRM, Computer-Aided Dispatch, Vehicle Tracking and Management System, and patient arrival notifications to optimize care coordination.

The fleet comprises advanced life support (ALS), basic life support (BLS), neonatal ambulances, first responder bikes, and even sea and riverboat ambulances. Forward integration plans also include medical drones and helicopter emergency medical services for MEMS 108.

Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez of Spain inspected and inaugurated the fleet during his visit to Mumbai for the Spain-India Business Summit, emphasizing Spain's support for healthcare advancements in India. He praised SumeetSSG’s role in fostering healthcare innovation and strengthening India-Spain relations.

Summit Salunke, Vice Chairman of Sumeet Group, expressed gratitude to PM Modi and PM Sánchez, noting, “This collaboration will bring transformative changes to India’s EMS sector, aligning with the ‘Make in India’ and ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’ visions.”

With the new MEMS 108 Project rolling out across Maharashtra in five phases, this initiative signifies a major step forward in India’s emergency medical services landscape.
