Siemens Healthineers and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) have inaugurated the Siemens Healthineers-Computational Data Sciences (CDS) Collaborative Laboratory for AI in Precision Medicine at IISc Bangalore.

The state-of-the-art laboratory will focus on developing open-source AI-based tools to automate the segmentation of pathological findings in neuroimaging data, aiming for precise diagnoses of neurological diseases and analyzing their clinical impact at a population level.

Established with the support of Siemens Healthineers' Corporate Social Responsibility initiative, the laboratory also includes six M.Tech fellowships for women, contributing to enhanced female representation in artificial intelligence.

Dr. Vaanathi Sundaresan from IISc’s Department of CDS will lead the program, collaborating closely with neurologists, radiologists, and Siemens Healthineers to integrate developed computational models into regular clinical workflows.
Peter Schardt, Chief Technology Officer of Siemens Healthineers, emphasized the collaboration's commitment to advancing precision medicine through AI and leveraging data-driven deep-learning techniques.

Prof Govindan Rangarajan, Director of the Indian Institute of Science, highlighted the collaboration's significance in unlocking AI's potential for precision medicine, showcasing how industry and academia can join forces to address complex challenges in healthcare.
