The Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI) and the Koita Foundation have forged a strategic partnership to inaugurate the RSSDI-Koita Centre for Digital Diabetology (KCDD).

This collaboration aims to advance diabetes management and research through innovative digital solutions.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formalized in the presence of esteemed dignitaries including Dr. Rakesh Sahay, President of RSSDI, Dr. Sanjay Agarwal, Secretary General of RSSDI, Rekha Koita, Director of Koita Foundation, and Surabhi Goel, Chief Operating Officer of Koita Foundation. The signing ceremony took place during the RSSDI Annual Research Retreat 2024 in Jaipur on April 13, 2024.

RSSDI is the largest association of physicians dedicated to diabetes care in Asia, boasting over 11,500 members across 23 states in India. On the other hand, the Koita Foundation is a non-profit organization committed to advancing digital health adoption and NGO transformation in India.

RSSDI-KCDD marks a pioneering endeavor in digital diabetology, aiming to leverage technology to enhance various aspects of diabetes care:

Quality Improvement: Utilizing digital tools such as Electronic Medical Records (EMRs) and artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance treatment workflows, patient engagement, and adherence to clinical guidelines.

Affordability: Identifying opportunities for cost reduction through data sharing and technology adoption to make diabetes care more accessible and affordable.

Access Enhancement: Leveraging telemedicine and digital solutions to improve access to high-quality diabetes care, especially in rural and non-urban areas.

Productivity Enhancement: Streamlining clinical and administrative workflows through digital automation to boost efficiency and reduce manual tasks.

Best Practices: Identifying and disseminating best practices in digital technology for diabetes management.

Training and Capacity Building: Providing continuous learning opportunities and skill development for healthcare professionals through digital platforms.

Research and Development: Collaborating with healthcare startups, pharmaceutical companies, and other organizations to drive research and development initiatives in diabetes care.

Dr. Rakesh Sahay emphasized the significance of this initiative in advancing diabetes care management, particularly in addressing challenges related to timely and accurate patient data. Dr. Sanjay Agarwal underscored the importance of leveraging digital tools to support patients, healthcare professionals, and systems.
Rizwan Koita, Co-founder & Director of Koita Foundation, highlighted the strategic alignment of RSSDI-KCDD initiatives with the government of India's focus on digital health adoption. He emphasized the potential of aggregating patient data to drive advancements in technologies like AI and Machine Learning in diabetes management and public health programs.
