Roche Diabetes Care is spearheading a diverse array of programs in India, aiming to heighten awareness, education, and screening for diabetes.
Roche Diabetes Care has initiated a comprehensive suite of programs in India focused on diabetes awareness, education, and screening.
The objective is to educate and screen individuals for diabetes while addressing the pressing issue of doctor-to-patient ratios in the country.
These initiatives are poised to impact over 5,000 healthcare professionals and patients across India. One such endeavor, the ‘Nurses on Diabetes’ initiative, is an online education platform launched in collaboration with the Endocrine & Diabetes Foundation. This platform aims to enhance diabetes management skills and e-health coaching specifically tailored for nurses.
Partnering with the Maharashtra State Government, Roche is supporting diabetes awareness and screening camps in the Thane district, aligning with the ‘Ayushman Bhav’ campaign. These camps have already screened over 1,500 individuals for diabetes as of November 2023.
Roche has expanded its collaboration with diabetes clinics and doctors, establishing 230 Doctor Support Centres throughout India. These centers facilitate engagement with diabetes nurse educators, educating more than 3,000 people about self-monitoring of blood glucose (SMBG).
In tandem with these efforts, Roche has launched a pan-India awareness campaign titled ‘Control Diabetes with Every Check.’ The campaign emphasizes the importance of self-monitoring blood glucose and underscores the role of technology in empowering individuals to manage diabetes.
Omar Sherief Mohammad, Cluster Head – India Middle East, and Africa at Roche Diabetes Care, highlighted the significance of knowledge, early diagnosis, and sustained programs in diabetes care. He emphasized the pivotal role of private-public partnerships in India’s fight against diabetes.
Roche Diabetes Care's multifaceted initiatives in India are indicative of a concerted effort to drive diabetes awareness, education, and screening, ultimately aiming to positively impact diabetes management and care across the country.
