Sahyadri Hospitals in Pune has achieved a significant medical milestone by successfully treating a rare case of Gartner’s duct cyst in a 27-year-old engineer, referred to as Priyanka (name changed for privacy reasons).
The surgical excision procedure, conducted by Dr. Mini Salunkhe and Dr. Gauri Jagdale, resulted in the removal of an intact cyst measuring 5 cm x 5 cm, larger than typical cases.
Dr. Mini Salunkhe, Director & Head of Department – Obstetrics at MomStory by Sahyadri, commented on the challenging nature of Priyanka's case due to the size and location of the cyst. She expressed satisfaction with the outcome of the surgical excision, noting that the cyst was fully removed with minimal impact on the patient's mobility and recovery.
Gartner’s duct cysts are considered rare, affecting approximately 20-25 percent of females. However, Priyanka's case stands out as only one percent of these cases involve cysts as large as hers, making her situation exceptionally unique.
The successful treatment was made possible by the expertise and collaboration between Dr. Salunkhe and Dr. Jagdale, combined with the advanced medical facilities available at Sahyadri Hospitals.
The successful removal of Priyanka's Gartner’s duct cyst highlights Sahyadri Hospitals' commitment to providing exceptional healthcare and addressing complex medical conditions. This achievement underscores the hospital's reputation for excellence in obstetrics, gynecology, and overall healthcare delivery.
