Primary Healthtech Launches Mobilab

Primary Healthtech, a start-up based in Guwahati, has developed Mobilab, a POCT device that assesses 25 vital blood parameters, aiding in early diagnosis of chronic diseases linked to kidney, liver, heart, and pancreas irregularities.

Mobilab, an IoT-enabled Android application, can conduct up to 150 tests on a single battery charge, establishing a digitally connected network that effectively serves underserved populations in remote areas, extending its utility.

Supported by a coalition of institutions, including the Centre for Nanotechnology at IIT Guwahati, the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Government of India, ICMR-Department of Health Research Centre of Excellence, the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, SIIC-IIT Kanpur, AIC-CCMB, KIIT-TBI, CPS- IITI, DBT-BIRAC, and IIT Guwahati, as well as Start-Up India, Mobilab is poised for mass production. This will be achieved by establishing an affordable yet sustainable vendor network.

Mobilab is a compact Point-of-Care-Testing device designed for early screening of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in Kidney, Liver, Heart, and Pancreas. It offers low-cost, patient-location tests, facilitating early screening and cost-effective long-term disease management for millions of individuals annually.

Mobilab has undergone rigorous validation at multiple hospital levels, including esteemed institutions like Guwahati Medical College & Hospital (GMCH), Guwahati Neurological Research Centre (GNRC), Nemcare, Army Hospital, and AIIMS New Delhi. It has been successfully deployed in diverse regions across India, including Assam, Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Delhi, and Arunachal Pradesh.

Speaking about Mobilab, Sahil Jagnani, Alumnus, IIT Guwahati, and Founder & CEO, Primary Healthtech, said, “The vision of Mobilab is to make diagnosis available to fellow citizens at an affordable cost, along with generating instant results to speed up the early screening, disease management, and treatment. Mobilab is also expected to perform import substitution under the Make-in-India initiative of the Government of India.”
