Monash University’s Faculty of Information Technology has partnered with Apollo Hospitals, one of India’s leading healthcare networks, to propel digital health research across India and Australia. This collaboration will enable Monash to access invaluable insights from Apollo’s de-identified patient data pool, encompassing over 200 million patient records, to foster breakthroughs in AI-driven healthcare solutions.

This strategic partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a new chapter in cross-continental healthcare innovation. As part of the agreement, Monash’s Faculty of IT will provide educational sessions for Apollo's healthcare professionals, equipping them with the latest knowledge in digital health advancements. Simultaneously, Monash students will benefit from real-world exposure by engaging with Apollo in practical projects that bridge theory and application.

Professor Chris Bain, Digital Health lead at Monash’s Faculty of IT, celebrated the partnership, highlighting the immense potential for digital health progress in both nations. “This collaboration will catalyze digital health innovation, leveraging AI to diagnose critical diseases like cancer, diabetes, and heart disease,” he stated. Bain emphasized that the shared expertise will greatly contribute to building robust AI algorithms capable of identifying major health issues more effectively.

The partnership also envisions establishing an annual Health AI symposium, drawing participants from both countries to share research, discuss challenges, and drive solutions in digital health. By merging resources and knowledge, Monash University and Apollo Hospitals are setting a new standard in digital health research, aiming to improve patient outcomes and transform healthcare accessibility.
