In an inspiring partnership, Maxivision and the Tamil Nadu Government have embarked on a mission to combat cataracts, a common yet debilitating eye condition. With a shared commitment to restoring vision clarity and improving the quality of life for residents, this collaboration is illuminating a brighter future.
Maxivision Super Speciality Eye Hospitals, an Indian chain of private eye care centers, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Tamil Nadu government. This agreement aims to establish multiple eye hospitals in order to address the state's high incidence of cataract-induced blindness.
The MoU was signed at the Chief Minister's office in the presence of Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister, MK Stalin, and Dr. TRB Rajaa, Minister for Industries, among other dignitaries. The collaboration is called "Velicham."
According to the Tamil Nadu Rapid Assessment of Avoidable Blindness and Diabetic Retinopathy survey, cataract is the leading cause of blindness in Tamil Nadu, accounting for 82 percent of all cases. In response to this challenge, the government has launched a Public Private Partnership with Maxivision Super Speciality Eye Hospitals to provide primary eye care services in underserved rural areas.
Maxivision, established in 1996, operates 42 centers in South and West India, with a strong presence in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The hospital chain offers a wide range of eye care services, including cataract surgery, LASIK, ReLEx Smile treatments, retinal care, glaucoma treatments, and oculoplasty.

We will invest ₹ 400 crore and employ over 2,000 people in the state within three to four years.”
