Maharashtra Discovers The First Eris Subvariant Case in Omicron
Stay informed with the latest development in the COVID-19 landscape: Maharashtra identifies the first case of the Eris subvariant within the Omicron variant.

UKHSA - UK Health Security Agency, has identified Eris as Omicron's descendant, marking it as a variant since July 31. Eris, one-seventh of new UK Covid cases, has increased from 70 to 115 cases in Maharashtra between late July and August 6.

Starting July 10, 11.8% UK sequences were identified as Eris, with a concerning increase to 14.6% of cases.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has expressed concern about the Eris variant’s rising cases. However, it’s been noted that this Covid-19 variant isn’t more severe than previous ones.

The latest UKHSA data, indicating Eris accounts for 14.6% of all Covid cases, doesn’t suggest increased severity, even as Covid-19 case rates rise.

Common symptoms of the Omicron variant include runny nose, headache, fatigue, sneezing, and sore throat. It’s advisable to get vaccinated and avoid crowded areas. In poorly ventilated places with no physical distancing, wearing a mask is recommended.
