India, Taiwan partners for Next-Gen Health Tech
India and Taiwan are collaborating in the field of health tech, fostering strategic partnerships and innovation through B2B meetings.

India and Taiwan are collaborating to develop innovative health tech solutions. The International Trade Administration and Commerce Development Research Institute, along with EMPI Institutions and Atal Incubation Centre-EMPI, are hosting B2B meetings to foster strategic partnerships between health tech companies from India and Taiwan. The first meetings took place in Mumbai on October 6, 2023, with support from the Taiwan Government through the WoW! Taiwan Project.

Among those in attendance were Yu-Chi Chen, Director of the Economic Division at the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India, Pankaj Saran, President of EMPI Institutions, Jayant Kumar, Deputy Drug Controller for the West Zone in India, Amit Gosiya from Meril Life Sciences, and Rajeev Srivastava from Tata Digital Health. Jayant Kumar, the event's keynote speaker, welcomed the initiative and discussed India's emphasis on the Medical Devices sector, emphasizing the opportunities for manufacturing in India. He also emphasized the Aayushman Bharat Digital Mission of the Government of India.

Chen said “India is a crucial economic and trade partner for Taiwan and that Taiwan has a lot to offer in terms of health tech solutions. Wow! Taiwan Project has gathered some of the finest Taiwanese companies to present three major solutions tailored to India’s Health Tech needs, which include “Medical Equipment and Solutions,” “Assistive Devices” and “Telemedicine.” I hope that the event will pave the way for more cooperation and exchange between the two countries in the health tech sector.”

Saran, a strong advocate for fostering innovation through numerous national impact initiatives in various sectors, asserts that India and Taiwan naturally partner in shaping 21st-century health-tech innovation.

The event featured a B2B meeting where Taiwanese medical device manufacturers showcased their products and services to potential Indian partners. CEOs, Managing Directors, and healthcare business representatives from India participated. Innovators and start-ups were invited to the event, providing an international business platform to explore collaboration opportunities with Taiwanese start-up companies.
