A groundbreaking collaboration has been forged between India and Taiwan, focusing on pioneering advancements in the health technology sector.
The International Trade Administration of the Taiwan Government, in conjunction with the Commerce Development Research Institute (CDRI) as its executing arm, has teamed up with EMPI Institutions and its Atal Incubation Centre-EMPI, marking a significant partnership to facilitate strategic alliances and B2B meetings between Indian and Taiwanese health tech companies.
This initiative aims to foster innovation and propel the development of cutting-edge solutions within the health tech domain. The inaugural series of meetings, held in Mumbai on October 6, 2023, laid the foundation for this partnership under the WoW! Taiwan Project, supported by the Taiwan Government.
The event witnessed the presence of notable figures including Yu-Chi Chen, Director of the Economic Division at Taipei Economic and Cultural Center in India, Pankaj Saran, President of EMPI Institutions, Jayant Kumar, Deputy Drug Controller (India) for the West Zone, and representatives from prominent entities like Meril Life Sciences and Tata Digital Health.
Jayant Kumar, the chief guest, lauded the initiative, shedding light on India’s focus on Medical Devices and the opportunities through the Make in India initiative. He emphasized the significance of the Government of India’s Aayushman Bharat Digital Mission in transforming healthcare accessibility.
Yu-Chi Chen highlighted India's pivotal role as an economic and trade partner for Taiwan, emphasizing Taiwan's contributions to health tech solutions tailored to Indian needs. The WoW! Taiwan Project showcased three key solutions—“Medical Equipment and Solutions,” “Assistive Devices,” and “Telemedicine”—catering to India's health tech requirements.
Pankaj Saran, a proponent of innovation across sectors, expressed his belief in the natural synergy between India and Taiwan for nurturing 21st-century health tech innovations.
The focal point of the event was the engaging B2B meet, where Taiwanese medical device manufacturers showcased their products and services to potential Indian partners. CEOs, Directors, and representatives from various Indian healthcare and medical device manufacturers participated, exploring collaborative opportunities.
Innovators and start-ups also found a platform to engage with Taiwanese counterparts, fostering international collaboration and business prospects.
This collaborative endeavor marks a pivotal step in advancing health technology, bridging nations to drive innovation and address critical healthcare needs on a global scale.
