The Institute of Heart and Lung Diseases (IHLD) has forged a strategic partnership with Krafton India to combat active tuberculosis (TB) cases in the northern Indian states of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand. This collaboration is in alignment with the Prime Minister's TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyan program, aimed at eradicating TB from India.
The joint initiative will initially focus on one district each in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, targeting active case detection programs. IHLD aims to screen approximately 100,000 individuals within the next year, with the potential to increase TB detection rates by 10-15% in these districts.
Expressing optimism about India's commitment to TB eradication by 2025, Sean Hyunil Sohn, CEO of Krafton India, emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in achieving this goal.
Dr. Rahul Chandola, Founder Chairman of IHLD, reiterated the institute's dedication to contributing to the National TB Elimination Program, underscoring the significance of public-private partnerships in addressing public health challenges.
Utilizing artificial intelligence (AI) technology, the program will leverage AI-supported X-ray machines for initial TB screening. This innovative approach aims to expedite the detection process, ensuring quicker and more accurate identification of potential TB cases.
The collaboration between IHLD and Krafton India aims to catalyze long-term improvements in the healthcare systems of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. The ultimate objective is to pave the way for a future free from the threat of tuberculosis, thereby contributing to the vision of a TB-free India.
