Learn about the Heart Savers CPR Initiative, a life-saving campaign dedicated to educating and empowering individuals across India with essential CPR skills.

Medicover Hospitals has launched the 'Heart Savers' campaign, with the goal of training 30,000 Indians in CPR to combat the alarming annual rate of 5-6 lakh sudden cardiac deaths, particularly among those under 50, due to lifestyle factors, as highlighted by a Lancet Commission report.

Dr. Kumar Narayanan, Senior Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist at Medicover Hospitals in Hyderabad and Deputy Chair of the Lancet Commission on SCD, emphasizes the importance of community participation in SCD response. "Survival after sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) remains below 10% worldwide," he says. This Commission emphasizes the importance of bystander CPR and the use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), which can increase survival rates from less than 10% to 70%."

The “Heart Savers: CPR Training for a Healthy World” initiative is being led by Dr Satheesh Kumar Kailasm, Group Medical Director, Medicover Hospitals.

Dr Sharath Reddy, Executive Director of Medicover Hospitals, said, “CPR is a procedure to keep blood circulating during cardiac arrest. Immediate CPR can increase survival chances by 5- to 10-fold.”

Medicover Hospitals in India is implementing 'hands-only CPR' training to prevent sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), emphasizing chest compressions. The training will be offered in all 25 hospitals, with volunteers enrolling on the company's website. The company also encourages collaboration with organizations to expand its reach.

Medicover Hospitals aims to democratize CPR training, enhancing survival chances for sudden cardiac death (SCD) victims through this campaign.
