Govt Launches 'MedTech Mitra' to Empower Innovators

Health Minister Mandaviya leads India's charge towards self-sufficiency in medical technology through the MedTech Mitra platform, envisioning a future where innovation drives healthcare.
The government initiated the MedTech Mitra platform to bolster India's MedTech innovators and reduce reliance on imported medical devices. Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya highlighted the platform's role in guiding young talents, aiding research shaping, and securing regulatory approvals.
Applauding the initiative, Mandaviya emphasized the potent force among innovators, researchers, and youth startups in the country, stressing the need for support during the approval phase. He envisioned India's self-reliance (Atmanirbhar) and a developed nation (Viksit Bharat) through innovation.
Recognizing the sector's 80% import dependence, Mandaviya underscored the platform's aim to foster indigenous, affordable, and quality MedTech devices, reducing import reliance. He outlined India's healthcare vision for 2047, emphasizing holistic health transformation.
Citing growth indicators like production incentive schemes and MedTech research policies, Mandaviya projected a $50 billion industry by 2030. He highlighted rapid advancements in Robotics, AI, Big Data, and Nano Technology shaping the medical device sector's evolution.
