The Tele-Manas helpline, part of the National Tele Mental Health Program, has handled over 200,000 calls since its inception in October 2022. The call volume doubled within a three-month period, with 42 active cells covering 31 states and UTs, handling 1,300+ daily calls in 20 languages.
The program has initiated follow-up on around 7,000 calls and effectively linked individuals in need of specialized care to pertinent services, including District Mental Health Programs (DMHP) and other local health facilities.
The Ministry aims to establish a comprehensive digital mental health network in India, catering to every individual in need.
The government's initiative to strengthen the mental health workforce and ensure widespread accessibility and free availability of services is accessible via toll-free numbers 14416 or 1-800-891-4416, with languages available.
