Gleneagles Hospital Mumbai has introduced the ‘Walk With A Doc (WWAD)’ initiative, aimed at promoting healthier lifestyles through walking. This initiative seeks to educate individuals on the importance of physical activity in preventing health issues.
As part of WWAD, the hospital conducts a 45-minute session on the first Sunday of every month, where specialists discuss various health topics and engage in walking sessions with participants. The upcoming session, scheduled for April 7, 2024, coincides with World Health Day. The discussion will focus on ‘Understanding Arthritis,’ with Dr. Sameer Rajadhksha, a consultant rheumatologist at Gleneagles Hospital Mumbai, serving as the speaker. Citizens interested in participating can register for free by calling 86571 34634.
Dr. Shirish M Hastak, Regional Director of Neurology, Stroke, and Neurocritical Care at Gleneagles Hospitals, Mumbai, emphasized the importance of bridging the gap between patients and doctors in the country through initiatives like WWAD. He highlighted that WWAD brings people together with a shared goal of adopting healthier habits.
The upcoming session at Mahalaxmi racecourse in April will be led by a rheumatologist and will focus on arthritis. These sessions serve as platforms for community education on various health topics. Each talk lasts for 20 minutes, followed by a Q&A session where participants can seek clarifications and guidance. Subsequently, the doctor leads a 30-minute walk with the participants, promoting physical activity as an integral part of daily life.
Anoop Lawrence, Chief Operating Officer of Gleneagles Hospital Mumbai, emphasized the significance of WWAD in fostering healthy living as a routine aspect of daily life. By encouraging individuals to prioritize their well-being, the initiative aims to cultivate a culture where healthy living becomes a lifestyle choice.
The WWAD initiative reflects Gleneagles Hospital Mumbai's commitment to promoting holistic health and well-being among the community, fostering a culture of proactive healthcare management and preventive measures.
