Gleneagles Hospital Mumbai’s ‘Walk With A Doc’ initiative is a program that encourages people to walk for better health.

Gleneagles Hospital Mumbai has initiated a promising program, ‘Walk With A Doc (WWAD)’, aimed at advocating a healthier lifestyle through the simple act of walking. The hospital endeavors to enlighten individuals on the significance of physical activity in preventing various health ailments.

Scheduled for the first Sunday of every month, the hospital hosts a 45-minute session as part of WWAD, where specialized doctors delve into pertinent health topics and actively engage in walking sessions alongside participants. This innovative initiative seeks to bridge the gap between patients and healthcare professionals while fostering a collective commitment to embracing healthier habits.

The forthcoming session, scheduled to coincide with World Health Day on April 7, 2024, will spotlight the theme ‘Understanding Arthritis’. Renowned rheumatologist, Dr. Sameer Rajadhksha of Gleneagles Hospital Mumbai, will lead the discussion, providing valuable insights into this prevalent health condition. Interested citizens are encouraged to register for WWAD by calling 86571 34634, with registration being free of charge.

Dr. Shirish M Hastak, Regional Director of Neurology, Stroke, and Neurocritical Care at Gleneagles Hospitals, Mumbai, expressed, “There is a gap between patients and doctors in the country. Through WWAD, people unite with a shared objective of embracing healthier habits.” This sentiment underscores the communal effort to prioritize health and well-being.

The upcoming session at Mahalaxmi racecourse in April will focus on arthritis, with a dedicated rheumatologist guiding the discourse. These sessions serve as invaluable platforms for community education on various health topics, with each talk lasting for 20 minutes, followed by a Q&A session allowing participants to seek expert guidance. Subsequently, participants engage in a 30-minute walk led by the doctor, thereby amalgamating knowledge sharing with physical activity.

Anoop Lawrence, Chief Operating Officer of Gleneagles Hospital Mumbai, emphasized the transformative impact of WWAD, stating, “WWAD is making healthy living a routine part of daily life. By encouraging people to prioritize their well-being, we can create a culture where healthy living is a lifestyle choice.” This concerted effort reflects the hospital’s commitment to promoting holistic wellness within the community.

In summary, Gleneagles Hospital Mumbai’s ‘Walk With A Doc’ initiative serves as a beacon of inspiration, encouraging individuals to embark on a journey towards healthier living through informed choices and physical activity. With each step, participants not only prioritize their well-being but also contribute to the cultivation of a healthier society.
