HealthCaters, an innovative German startup with a mission to transform healthcare through disease prevention tools, has recently secured €1.2 million in seed funding. Barmenia Next Strategies led the funding round, with Venpace, DvH Ventures, and angel investor Philipp Götting participating.
HealthCaters, founded in 2020 by Dr. Lilia Kruse and Tatyana Eliseeva, aims to address the issue of preventable diseases in the country by providing comprehensive 360° health assessments, empowering individuals to proactively manage their health, and bridging the gap in traditional healthcare systems.
Tatyana Eliseeva, co-founder of HealthCaters, said: “Preventive care is no longer a niche market. With the medical system becoming more reactive, people are realizing that proactively taking control of their health is the most effective way to avoid illness and chronic disease. Our goal is to establish ourselves as the go-to health assessment service for modern and health-conscious individuals that fit their busy schedules. We will continue to partner with corporates and health insurers to provide access to preventive healthcare to more people globally.”
HealthCaters is addressing the challenges of the modern medical system by providing accessible, speedy, and cost-effective preventive healthcare solutions. They use a medical self-screening station and an AI-driven health coaching app to assess 27 health indicators, guided by a virtual health assistant. The app then provides a comprehensive 360° health assessment and evidence-based action steps.
Lilia Kruse, medical doctor and co-founder of HealthCaters, explained: “Unfortunately, the mindset of treating symptoms instead of preventing disease remains the widespread norm in modern medicine. But health does not begin the moment we enter a clinic, feeling sick. It begins the second we are born and is shaped throughout our lives. People are demanding transparency and knowledge on how to control health outcomes. People no longer want to be spectators in healthcare – they want to be drivers. Now more than ever.”
HealthCaters, a B2B company, is partnering with companies like Barmenia, Cargill, and WeWork to manage employees' health and reduce insurance costs. The HealthCaters app helps employees manage their well-being, reducing doctor visits and sick leave. This approach has received positive feedback from employees who appreciate the simplicity of self-care over in-person health examinations.
HealthCaters is set to launch physical drop-in locations in Berlin and pop-up events across European cities to meet increasing demand for check-ups and personalized health improvement programs, ensuring quick access to these services for individuals.
Jan Seidel, Managing Director at Barmenia Next Strategies, added: “Health is the most important resource we have as humans. HealthCaters is on a mission to prevent diseases while helping businesses become more effective and sustainable, reducing costs on insurance, sick leave and staff turnover.”
The existing funds will be allocated towards enhancing product development and team growth, with the aim of increasing the accessibility of HealthCaters' health assessments in Germany and venturing into additional international markets.
