Fortis Hospital Mulund's 'ECG on Wheels' campaign for World Heart Day 2023 highlighted the critical role of early detection in cardiac health. During the three-day initiative, 330 free ECG screenings were conducted, uncovering a significant 14% abnormal results rate among participants aged 45-70.
To commemorate World Heart Day 2023, Fortis Hospital Mulund launched the 'ECG on Wheels' campaign, actively promoting heart health. This three-day campaign aimed to emphasize the importance of detecting and treating cardiac issues in the community as early as possible.
From September 29 to October 4, the hospital conducted 330 free ECG screenings, with 252 men and 78 women participating. A significant 14% of participants, aged 45-70, showed abnormal ECG results, prompting consultation with a Cardiologist for appropriate treatment plans. These early screenings could potentially save lives and emphasize the importance of regular medical check-ups.
As part of this initiative, a fully equipped ambulance staffed by skilled Cardiologists and technicians and outfitted with advanced ECG machines set out on a journey across Mulund, Thane, Nahur, and Bhandup, providing free ECG checks to citizens aged 40 and up. The team provided the participants with immediate reports and advice.
Dr S Narayani, Business Head, Fortis Hospitals Maharashtra, said, “The ‘ECG on Wheels’ initiative underscores our dedication to community health and promotes awareness of preventive healthcare practices. Our goal is to inspire citizens to adopt heart-healthy measures and take charge of their heart health through regular screenings and early detection.”
Dr Atul Limaye, Director – Interventional Cardiology & TAVI Services at Fortis Hospital Mulund, said, “ECG on Wheels aims to educate people about the rising prevalence of cardiovascular diseases in India and the importance of early screening, detection, and treatment. We encourage all citizens to undergo regular health check-ups as advised, as a healthy lifestyle is an investment in a longer, healthier life.”
