FOGSI and BSV's 'Run for Gender Equality' drives awareness on critical women's health issues like anemia and Rh incompatibility during pregnancies. The event fosters support for healthier pregnancies and equitable health decisions nationwide.
The Federation of Obstetric and Gynecological Societies of India (FOGSI), in collaboration with Bharat Serums and Vaccines Limited (BSV), orchestrated the 'FOGSI Run for Gender Equality' at Airoli, Navi Mumbai, as part of a nationwide initiative spanning 28 cities. This run sought to raise awareness about crucial health concerns specific to women, notably anemia and Rh incompatibility during pregnancies.
The event witnessed active participation from Navi Mumbai residents, emphasizing the collective support for gender equality and the imperative of fostering a healthy population with a focus on women's well-being during pregnancies.
Sanjiv Navangul, MD & CEO of BSV, expressed delight in partnering with FOGSI for this significant endeavor, underscoring BSV's commitment to enhancing women's healthcare by leveraging innovative products and awareness campaigns.
Anemia remains a concerning factor contributing to 20-40% of maternal deaths in India, with high prevalence among pregnant women in both urban and rural areas. Additionally, the challenge of Rh-negative pregnant mothers delivering Rh-positive babies affects a significant number of women in the country. The run aimed to bridge these awareness gaps to promote healthier pregnancies and a healthier nation.
Dr. Hrishikesh Pai, President of FOGSI, highlighted the run's objective to empower women through informed health decisions, fostering an equitable and inclusive society. He stressed the importance of educating women about conditions like anemia and Rh incompatibility, urging them to prioritize their health through proper diet and exercise, complemented by available treatments.
The run also resonated with the 'Beti Padhao, Beti Bachao' program, advocating for educating and creating awareness among young girls, furthering the goal of an Anemia Mukt Bharat, where healthy pregnancies and mothers become a reality.
This collaboration between FOGSI and BSV stands as a testament to their commitment to women's reproductive health, aiming to instigate positive conversations and awareness around pressing health challenges faced by women in India.
