The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza is alarmed by the looming threat of a major epidemic outbreak as a result of ongoing Israeli airstrikes and the Hamas blockade in the enclave.
The Palestinian Health Ministry in Gaza has expressed concerns about a potential major epidemic outbreak due to ongoing and Hamas blockade in the Gazan enclave.
Overcrowding in shelters, lack of clean water, and poor hygiene have led to an increase in diseases like diarrhea, food poisoning, scabies, and bronchial infections.
On October 7, Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel, infiltrating Israeli territory and taking over 200 people hostage.
In retaliation, Israel initiated extensive airstrikes and punitive actions, which included imposing a blockade on the enclave, resulting in the cessation of vital supplies such as water, electricity, fuel, and other necessities.
The continuing conflict has led to the loss of nearly 5,800 lives among Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and over 1,400 casualties in Israel.
