Empowering Women in Uniform: Granules India and AIG Hospitals Launch Breast Health Drive in Telangana
AIG Hospitals and Granules India conduct breast cancer screenings for women police officers, focusing on early detection and preventive care.

Granules India Limited, in partnership with AIG Hospitals, has launched a breast health screening and awareness initiative for women police officers in Telangana. Held at the State Police Headquarters, the event was part of Granules India’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, Breast Health Express, aimed at promoting early detection and education about breast cancer among women in law enforcement.

The camp provided screenings and awareness sessions to 100 women officers, emphasizing the importance of regular check-ups. Dr. Jitendra, IPS, Director General of Police, highlighted how women in high-pressure roles often overlook their own health, stressing the need for regular screenings, especially for those over 40.

The Breast Health Express mobile unit, active since September 2024, has conducted 18 camps, screened over 1,000 women, and educated more than 2,000 individuals. Equipped with mammography and ultrasound facilities, the unit also offers basic health checks like haemoglobin and blood pressure screening.

Dr. Pragnya Chigurupati of AIG Hospitals noted the rising breast cancer cases in Telangana and underscored the importance of early detection. The initiative also provides financial aid through the UC Breast Foundation for women requiring further treatment.

Driven by Uma Chigurupati, Executive Director of Granules India, this programme reflects the company’s continued focus on accessible preventive healthcare for underserved women.
