Chennai's MedIndia Hospital introduces GERD X, revolutionizing gastroenterology with less invasive surgical solutions, focusing on treating Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C.
Chennai Hospital introduces GERD X equipment, revolutionizing surgical solutions for Gastroenterology. Dr. Narayanasamy emphasizes transformative changes, focusing on treating Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C, reducing peptic ulcers and communicable diseases.
Dr. Narayanasamy, who commissioned the Germany-made equipment GERD X, at the launch of a new equipment by MedIndia Hospital, said -
"The field of gastroenterology and hepatology had changed dramatically with reference to diagnosis, disease burden and profile. Conditions such as peptic ulcers and communicable diseases had declined while more specialists were treating Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C."
GERD and GERDx
The GERDX-System uses endoscopic partial thickness plication (eFTP) to benefit patients with chronic GRD who cannot control symptoms with medication. This less invasive system offers future treatment options, bridging the gap between medications and more invasive surgical solutions.
Dr. Narayanasamy performed an endoscopic full-thickness plication using the GERDx system, developed by G-SURG GmbH, using hydraulic components for control.
Dr. Narayanasamy recalled that government hospitals did not treat these disorders in the past, but now they are available even at primary health facilities.
Gastroenterologists report rising prevalence of lifestyle disorders like Crohn's, ulcerative colitis, and inflammatory bowel syndrome, possibly due to globalization and environmental factors.
Dr. Narayanasamy commended -
T.S. Chandrasekar, a gastroenterologist and the creator of MedIndia, for his contributions to medical education initiatives throughout the State. During the CME on treating gastroesophageal reflux disorder (GERD) on Sunday, Dr. Chandrasekar presented a less invasive option to laparoscopic therapy. The newly introduced GERD-X therapy is a simple procedure that can be repeated as needed and is also more cost-effective than surgery, according to Dr. Chandrasekar.
