The European College of Sport and Exercise Physicians (ECOSEP) has entered into a strategic partnership with Tata Elxsi to embed artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning into the realm of sports and exercise medicine. This collaboration merges ECOSEP’s clinical knowledge with Tata Elxsi’s advanced technological capabilities to develop AI-powered solutions that enhance athlete care and performance monitoring.

The initiative focuses on building intelligent diagnostic tools, customised treatment plans, predictive models for injury prevention, and systems for real-time monitoring of athletes' physical health. By integrating data science with clinical research, the partnership aims to enable faster, more accurate decision-making and better healthcare outcomes for athletes.

The project is being led by Dr. Pakravan, ECOSEP Vice Chair, and facilitated by Dr. Malliaropoulos, General Secretary. Prof. Nicola Maffulli, ECOSEP President, emphasised the transformative potential of this collaboration, stating it unites medical and technological disciplines to deliver holistic care solutions for athletes. Tata Elxsi’s Anup SS echoed this sentiment, highlighting the joint mission to create intelligent tools that deliver early diagnoses and personalised treatment for each athlete.

This partnership marks a significant step towards innovation in musculoskeletal and sports medicine. The two organisations aim to further this mission through research initiatives, clinical validation, and the development of AI-based tools tailored for healthcare professionals and athletes. Tata Elxsi will showcase the collaboration’s early results at the 9th ECOSEP Congress in Düsseldorf in November 2025, fostering further engagement within the clinical and sports medicine community.
