In a momentous recognition of medical prowess and leadership, Dr. Prem Nair, the Group Medical Director of Amrita Hospital, has been awarded the esteemed Tharang Golden Honor for Global Excellence by the Indian Medical Association.

The accolade was bestowed upon Dr. Nair during the 98th All India Medical Conference held in Thiruvananthapuram, where Kerala's Chief Minister, Pinarayi Vijayan, presented the prestigious award, acknowledging Dr. Nair's exceptional contributions to the medical field and healthcare policies.

The award highlights Dr. Nair's exemplary patient care, visionary leadership, and his instrumental role in advancing medical knowledge and practices. Notably, he spearheaded the establishment of Amrita Hospital, a pivotal institution that houses Kerala's first private medical college. Under his stewardship, Amrita Hospitals has emerged as India's largest private healthcare institution.

Dr. Nair's academic credentials include a Doctor of Medicine and Fellowship of the American College of Physicians in Hepatology, earned from the University of Southern California. His professional journey encompasses significant roles at Amrita Hospital and University, consultancy as a Gastroenterologist in California, and leadership within the Association of Healthcare Providers (India).

As the national president-elect of the Telemedicine Society of India, Dr. Nair remains at the forefront of healthcare advancements. His tenure at Amrita Hospital has witnessed groundbreaking milestones, notably Asia's pioneering upper-arm double hand transplant and India's first in-utero surgery. In 2022, the hospital marked further expansion into Faridabad, spanning an impressive 130 acres and accommodating 2,600 beds.

The All-India Medical Conference served as a platform to celebrate Dr. Prem Nair's illustrious career, drawing leaders and more than 2,000 representatives from across the nation.
