Artemis Hospitals in Gurugram has launched an ambitious initiative aimed at enhancing awareness and education about organ transplants, particularly emphasizing donations from brain-dead patients.

The campaign, named #LifeCanBeginAfterDeath, strives to tackle illegal organ trade by encouraging and educating families of brain-dead patients about the life-saving impact of organ donations.

Under the banner of this campaign, Artemis Hospitals organized a one-day awareness program titled “Road Traffic Accident, Brain Death, and Organ Donation.” The event served as a platform for medical experts, transplant specialists, and nursing staff to converge and highlight the critical role brain-dead patients can play in saving lives through organ donations.

Poonam Kumari, SHO Traffic Police Gurugram, stressed the necessity of raising awareness about organ donation, emphasizing the importance of diverse campaigns to increase donation rates and save lives.

Dr. Devlina Chakravarty, Managing Director of Artemis Hospital, underlined the urgent need to bridge the gap in organ donations, particularly from brain-dead patients. Emphasizing India’s comparatively low donation rates, she emphasized the significance of education and awareness among the public and medical practitioners.

Varun Mittal, Head of Kidney Transplant & Associate Chief at Artemis Hospitals, emphasized the crucial need to educate people about the potential of organ donations from brain-dead donors in saving lives. He emphasized the necessity for increased donations from deceased donors to alleviate the lengthy waiting lists for patients.

Dr. (Col) Avnish Seth, VSM, an authority in Medical Gastroenterology and Manipal Organ Sharing and Transplant at Manipal Hospital, New Delhi, highlighted organ donation as an act of compassion. His aim was to inspire individuals towards organ donation through awareness, shedding light on the profound impact of donating organs.

The event concluded by honoring organ donors for their selfless contributions, instilling renewed hope and happiness among recipients and their families.
