In a bid to alleviate healthcare disparities in conflict-affected Manipur, Apollo Telehealth launches a telemedicine-driven Primary Health Center in Borobeka.
Addressing the healthcare disparity in conflict-affected regions of Manipur, Apollo Telehealth has inaugurated a telemedicine-driven Primary Health Center (PHC) in Borobeka. This collaborative effort with the Government of Manipur aims to improve medical access for communities facing challenges due to remoteness and infrastructure limitations.
The Borobeka region in Manipur has long grappled with inadequate healthcare facilities, exacerbated by its remote location and recent conflict-related displacements of frontline healthcare workers. Recognizing the urgent need to address this gap, Apollo Telehealth partnered with the government to revitalize the Borobeka PHC.
Equipped with essential medical and IT infrastructure, including skilled medical professionals, the PHC now offers teleconsultations with over 15 specialist doctors from across India. This initiative enables residents to access quality healthcare services without the constraints of distance.
The collaboration underscores a proactive approach towards reinstating vital healthcare services in conflict-affected areas, ensuring residents have access to essential medical care. Honorable Justice Gita Mittal, Chairperson of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee on Relief and Rehabilitation in Manipur, commended the initiative for its contribution to improving healthcare access.
Despite facing challenges such as recent unrest and adverse weather conditions, Vikram Thaploo, CEO of TeleHealth at Apollo Hospitals, emphasized the dedication of the team in transforming the Borobeka PHC. This project signifies a significant step towards bridging the healthcare gap and enhancing the well-being of communities in Manipur.
The launch of the telemedicine-driven PHC in Borobeka, Manipur, reflects a collaborative effort to address healthcare disparities in conflict-affected regions. Through innovative solutions and dedicated teamwork, Apollo Telehealth and the Government of Manipur aim to ensure accessible and quality medical care for residents, marking a significant milestone in healthcare provision in the region.
