Apollo Diagnostics has launched its state-of-the-art Digi-Smart Central Reference Laboratory (CRL) in Chennai, a fully automated 45,000-square-foot facility designed to significantly improve diagnostic efficiency. The lab integrates five major disciplines—Clinical Chemistry, Immunoassay, Serology, Haematology, and Haemostasis—into a seamless digital ecosystem.

By incorporating robotics, high-definition imaging, machine learning, and proprietary algorithms, the CRL aims to reduce sample turnaround time by 60%, processing over 100,000 samples daily. The facility is positioned to serve both India and Southeast Asia, enabling faster and more accurate diagnostics on a large scale.

Dr. Prathap C Reddy, Founder and Chairman of Apollo Hospitals, emphasized that this innovation represents a leap in diagnostic accuracy and efficiency. Dr. Preetha Reddy, Executive Vice Chairperson, highlighted that combining speed, precision, and AI helps enhance patient outcomes. Dr. Sangita Reddy, Joint Managing Director, added that the facility reflects Apollo’s mission to deliver accessible and affordable diagnostics nationwide.

Offering over 3,000 tests, the lab also specializes in microbiology, flow cytometry, molecular biology, cytopathology, and medical genetics. It incorporates an advanced automated track alongside specialized testing units.

Apollo’s new lab will undergo stringent proficiency testing and quality checks and seek both national and global accreditations. This initiative reinforces Apollo Diagnostics’ commitment to integrating automation and digital technology to drive faster, smarter clinical decisions and improve overall patient care.
