Apex Group of Hospitals aimed to raise awareness about hand hygiene on Global Handwashing Day by promoting it at platform No. 3 of Borivali railway station on the Mumbai suburban rail route, emphasizing the importance of hand hygiene in preventing COVID-19 and other illnesses.

Global Handwashing Day is a global initiative promoting handwashing with soap, involving activities in schools, workplaces, and communities to teach proper techniques and importance. In 2023, the theme is "Clean hands are within reach," emphasizing the importance of education, especially for children, about the accessibility and critical nature of hand hygiene, particularly in schools and workplaces.

Dr. Ravindra Rathod, Quality Head at Apex Group of Hospitals, emphasized the significance of consistent handwashing with soap as a simple yet powerful measure. The initiative seeks to decrease the spread of germs and decrease the incidence of diseases like diarrhea, respiratory infections, and cholera. These diseases play a substantial role in mortality rates, particularly among children in developing countries.

Dr Rathod said, “We are making efforts to ensure that the campaign reaches the maximum number of people who benefit from it. Our nurses and paramedical staff participated in this Global Handwashing Day drive, demonstrating proper handwashing techniques and stressing its importance in daily life at Borivali Railway Station and surrounding areas. Global Handwashing Day is not just about raising awareness; it’s a call to action for individuals, communities, and organizations to promote and practice good hygiene habits.”
